The organisers of one of Shropshire’s leading one-day shows have released a limited number of 2017 membership packages as an alternative gift idea this Christmas.
Membership of the Newport and District Agricultural Society includes free entry to the annual show on Saturday, July 8, as well as a host of privileges including reserved parking, use of the members’ enclosure, bar and dining pavilion, and reduced rates for livestock and horse entries.
Earlybird tickets have also gone on sale at discount prices ahead of the festive season.
Thousands of people flock to the Chetwynd Deer Park for the summer show that programmes a host of family friendly activities.
The show retains its proud links to the agricultural sector with more 140 livestock and sheep classes, a horse show and a dog show featuring Crufts qualifying classes. This year’s expanded Festival of Food included demonstrations from Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain and showcased the best of regional gourmet food and drink.
There is also main ring entertainment, vintage vehicle and machinery displays, live music, trade stands, antique stalls, a schools marquee, handicraft and horticulture competitions, and fairground rides.
Show President Richard Maddocks said preparations for the 2017 were well underway with the line up to be revealed in the Spring.
“Membership of the Newport and District Agricultural Society could be a fun alternative gift if you’re struggling to think of something to buy your friends or loved one this Christmas. Becoming a member gives people extra benefits so they can enjoy the show in style.
“As a charity, all the money we make is ploughed back into our event so buying a membership package, rather than just paying on the day, plays an important role in supporting the continuing development of a popular community show.
“We have some exciting plans for 2017 and can’t wait to share them with everyone early next year.”
Membership starts from £5 for a junior and £20 per adult. There are also double adult and family packages on offer.
