Shropshire’s leading one-day show has launched an alternative Christmas gift idea.
The Newport and District Agricultural Society, which organises the Newport Show in July each year, has unveiled its 2016 membership packages in time for the festive season.
The 107th Newport Show will be held at Chetwynd Deer Park on July 9, 2016, with the 2015 event having attracted more than 13,000 people.
The gift package includes free entry to the show and membership of the society, as well as a host of privileges including reserved parking, use of the members’ enclosure, bar and dining pavilion, and reduced rates for livestock entries.
Show manager Clare Farrell said: “The 2016 show is already shaping up to be a fantastic event with some great entertainment lined up. If you’re struggling to think of something to buy your friends or loved one, membership of the society could be a surprising alternative gift idea.
“The society is a charity and all the money we make is ploughed back into the show. Becoming an annual member, rather than just paying on the day, gives extra benefits and plays an important role in supporting the continuing development of show.”
Newport Show retains its proud links to the agricultural sector with a vast range of livestock and horse competitions and it has expanded to include a top class programme of family entertainment over the years.
There is also a food court offering gourmet food, wine and beer, an educational slant with a schools marquee, horticulture craft fair and stalls.
Mrs Farrell added: “Although we continue to attract our core visitors, our growing market is those people looking for a great day of family entertainment and last year was our best ever in terms of visitor numbers.”
Membership starts from £5 for a junior and £20 per adult. There are also double and family packages on offer.
