A new carving workshop will feature at this year’s Newport Show for the first time, organisers have revealed.
Children and adults will have the chance to take part in magic wand making and spoon carving – while sat on wooden horses created by the professionals.
The new attraction has been added to the lineup for Shropshire’s premier one day show at Chetwynd Deer Park on Saturday, July 13.
Show Manager Sally Western said they’re delighted to be able to add a new feature in the Education Hub for all the family to enjoy.
“I saw the carving workshop take place last year and knew immediately it would be something that the people of Newport and Shropshire would enjoy,” she said.
“We’re so pleased we’ve been able to confirm them for this year’s show and are sure there will be plenty of people having a go for themselves.
“It is different to what else is on offer on show day but really compliments the rest of the line up.
“I look forward to seeing plenty of people walking around the show with their own beautifully crafted spoons and wands on July 13.”
The carving workshop will be provided by Amerton Art Studios.
The show will also feature entertainment for all the family including displays by Bolddog Lings freestyle motocross display team and the Mountain Bike Aerial Display (M.A.D.) team, as well as camel racing, hundreds of trade stands and 140 cattle and sheep classes, livestock, horses and dogs – including qualifying events for both the Horse of the Year Show and Crufts.
There is also vintage vehicle and machinery displays, an antique and country living marquee, handicraft and horticulture competitions, fairground rides and the Festival of Food area which features demonstrations, masterclasses and the best of regional food and drink.
Sally added: “There is always something for every visitor to enjoy, of all ages and interests.
“To be continually adding new attractions to our lineup shows how much we want to keep the show fresh for visitors who make a real day of it.
“Once again, unique to Newport Show, this year we’ll also have a festival feel in the early evening with live music from local bands.
