The countdown is on! In just over two weeks’ time we’ll be welcoming the crowds for the most exciting day in our year.
The building of the infrastructure of the show will start at the deer park very soon. This is always an exciting time as we see the event that we’ve spent the last year planning take shape.
It’s also a very busy time and there’ll be finishing touches being made until the 11th hour but all our hard work will be worthwhile when we open the gates.
As President, show day will be very busy for me. There’s prizes to be presented, guests to meet, volunteers and visitors to chat to. I’m sure it’ll pass by in a blur but I intend to get around to every area of the show during the day.
I’ll definitely take time to watch one of the performances of the JCB Dancing Diggers. It’s been a real coup for us to secure their attendance so I can’t miss it. As a Chairman of the Festival of Food and a big foodie, I’ll be picking up some tips from our celebrity chefs including Bake Off runner up Steven Carter-Bailey. I know he has a few recipes that he’ll be demonstrating including his take on Shropshire’s fidget pie, aptly renamed fudg-it pie!
I’ll also be watching the skies during the afternoon for the flypast by an RAF Dakota – something that will really add to the atmosphere of the day.
Later on in the afternoon, I hope there’ll be time for me to enjoy some of the live music. There’s so much to do at the show you do really need all day there but there’s a new late entry ticket, available between 4.30pm and 5pm, if you can’t make it til later in the afternoon.
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to join us so there’s ample parking on site, you can get the free shuttle bus from the Stafford Road bus terminal or you can park and stroll from the rugby club.
